July Card Buffet

One of my new favorite stamp sets is Stampin' Ups Work of Art set.  What a fun and versatile set.  I can't believe everything you can make with it.  Pinterest is loaded with ideas to spark anyone's creativity.  So....this month we will be only using the Work of Art set to create a set of cards along with the box to hold them.  What a wonderful treat for you to use or to give as a gift to your favorite someone.

VCMP - Challenge #8

Here is Cherie's challenge to make a Missing You card using at least one circle and two banners.  I know how much my daughter misses her husband when he is deployed.  And now they have a little one.  I'm sure plenty of our Heroes have kids they miss tremendously.  So to fulfill the challenge, I created a card with 2 banners and not just one circle, but 12 circles.  That's right, those are LEGOS!  I hope some little person will love getting this card.

VCMP - ODB Challenge #7

It's a new day for our wonderful Virtual Card Making Party!  Our Daily Bread posts a challenge on the first Saturday of every month.  And since this is the first Saturday, they are playing along too.  They have such awesome stamps that I hope to be able to afford some day.  Our challenge is Wings.  I chose Butterflies for my card.

I used Stampin' Ups Hardwood embossing folder inked with Early Expresso to bring out the grain and layered it on Old Olive.  The butterflies are from SU's Papillon Potpourri and colored with Pumpkin Pie and Daffodil Delight.  And the best part...each one is punched out without having to fussy cut.

4th of July VCMP - Challenge #6

I finally finished the challenges from day one of our party!  Yay!  JoAnn gave us a two card challenge of making a winter card in 2 different color variations.  The first one is made with traditional Christmas colors and has a Merry Christmas sentiment.  The second one is made with more neutral colors that can be given all winter long.  This one is a Thinking of You card.

Thanks, JoAnn, for such a fun challenge.  You really challenged my thinking and my ability to find the right paper in all my stash.  And thanks for all you do for Operation Write Home.  What a blessing you are!

4th of July VCMP - Challenge #5

It's not the 4th anymore, but I'm trying to play catch up with the challenges.  I didn't know card making could wear me out so much.  But it's a good kind of tired.  If I stop long enough to remember where these cards are going, I have no right to whine of being tired.  Again I want to shout out a huge THANKS to all our Heroes, for their unending sacrifices for all of us.  In challenge #5 we are to make a card with a colorful background.

I just love this butterfly background stamp from Stampin' Up.  I stamped it in Versa Mark and then heat embossed it in white.  Then all you do is sponge on the colors of your choice.  I used Pistachio Pudding, Crisp Cantaloupe, and Strawberry Slush (kind of makes you hungry, doesn't it?).  Then I layered it on Coastal Cabana.  Thanks for such a colorful challenge Beth.

4th of July VCMP!

Happy Birthday America!  And welcome stampers and supporters of Operation Write Home to my blog.  I hope you have been having a very creative weekend with lots of stamping fun!

My challenge for you is Travel.  Summer is the time to kick back, take a vacation, or just enjoy time in your own area of our wonderful country.  What is your favorite mode of transportation?  You don't have to go far to enjoy the journey.  Do you like to ride bikes with your kids?  How many love to hop on their Harley for a ride in the country?  I have quite a few friends who love to go on a cruise.  One of my favorite trips was across the northern plains on a train (in a sleeper car).  I always enjoy a road trip in the car, especially if it takes me to the mountains.  Right now I can only dream about it.

I have included two cards that show vintage modes of transportation.  They are from Stampin' Ups new set called Traveler.  I always seem to be short of masculine stamps, so these fit the bill perfectly.  As a matter of fact, I sent the train as a birthday card, and 3 more train cards for Father's Day.  My son told me I had developed "mad skills" in my card making.  We all like positive feedback, especially from our kids.

So go ahead and use your favorite stamp that shows a type of transportation - bicycles, motorcycles, skateboards, cars, boats, trains.  And the sentiment is your choice.  Just have FUN!  Post your creation using the InLinkz below.

4th of July VCMP - Challenge #2

Thank You!  Two simple words that hold a great amount of meaning.  We owe so much thanks to all the Heroes that have served and are still serving our country.  And sometimes our Heroes want to thank someone back home for their love and support.  Challenge #2 was to make a Thank You card using spray inks or gelatos.  To be honest, I don't have those things, but I wanted to make a card anyway.  And thank you to all of you who support Operation Write Home and all of our Heroes.

Happy 4th of July everyone!  Welcome to my blog and the first challenge of Operation Write Home's 4th of July VCMP.  The first challenge was to make a His card and a Hers card using a sketch from OWH.  She chose sketch #161, so I decided to use the same one.  I love my oval framelits, so this was the perfect sketch to use.
